Flex Developer Position – Nitro Security

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:48 pm by curtism

Hiring Company:
NitroSecurity

Job Title:
Software Development Engineer (for Adobe Flex Application Development)

Job Type:
Full Time

Job Location:
Idaho Falls, Idaho

Compensation:
Competitive/Negotiable DOE

Job Description:

——

Who would have guessed you could graduate with a technical degree but then find a job where the passionate spirit and beauty of the American frontier is still very much alive?

——

It’s true! You can live and work in a place where millions of people come from all over the world to fish, hunt, photograph wildlife, try their hand at riding horses and herding cattle on a dude ranch, go whitewater rafting, fill their bellies with some of the tastiest Dutch oven dinners in the world, and watch big time rodeo up close, but for small town prices.

Idaho Falls is the hub to all of eastern Idaho and is the gateway to Island Park, Targhee National Forest, Yellow Stone National Park, the resort town of Jackson Hole Wyoming, and Grand Teton National Park. Health and fitness opportunities are abundant with several health clubs located throughout the city. Of course, who wants to workout indoors when there’s an extensive paved greenbelt running along several miles of the famous Snake River which carves through Idaho Falls city center? Other recreational venues include: Edwards Grand Teton Movie theater with reclining seats, the amazing Tautphaus Park, numerous baseball and soccer fields, 3 golf courses, a disc golf course in Freeman Park, a brand new skate park with a full pipe, an international zoo housing over 400 animals, bear world, lake and riverside picnic areas with boat docks, a year-round indoor climbing facility, wide open country for unrestricted off-road  vehicle and sport riding, plenty of room to shoot your guns, and the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration—boasting the largest firework display west of the Mississippi.

The city gets its name from the falling rapids downtown near Broadway Street Bridge. The falls are also a hot spot for photographers— especially at night when they come to take reflective pictures of the brightly lit Idaho Falls Temple, owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. By the way, did we mention that Idaho Falls is one of the few remaining communities in the U.S. where strong family values are still the norm? One of the core things that make it such a great place to live and raise a family is the strong religious foundation that always has been, is, and will continue to be an important part of the way of life in Idaho Falls.

——-

And the company?

——-

NitroSecurity is no Microsoft, Intel or IBM… and that gives us certain advantages. We can do things that big companies can’t. With fewer than 200 employees we’re a very close knit team of friends. Everyone matters. Everyone plays hard. Everyone makes a difference. Although our underlying lighting fast database technology is truly amazing, it’s really because of our people that NitroSecurity is quickly climbing to the top of the Network Security industry.

We know you have other choices, so we keep our salaries and benefits package competitive with the rest of the industry. We expect you to work hard and put in an honest day, but we don’t work you to pieces. Unlike bigger companies, you’ll generally find our offices pretty empty before 8am or after 5pm. We value and encourage regular development and renewal of your family and social relationships. That’s because work-life balance is an important key to our success. We know that when the rest of your life is in balance, you’re able to give your best during the work day.

Job Requirements:

——-

Ok…so, what about the job?

——-

We’re looking for exactly the right person to join our Flex development team. Here’s how we’ll know if that’s you:

[  ] – You have a BS in computer science or a related field (or, at least you will in a couple of months)

[  ] – This won’t be the first time you’ve written object-oriented code (the more experience you have, the better)

[  ] – “Flex”, “Flash”, and “ActionScript 3.0” sound more like friends than foreign words (this one is sort of optional since we can teach you what you need to know, but checking this box will give you a strong advantage over the competition)

[  ] – You’re passionate about technology

[  ] – There’s a fire inside you that drives you to learn new things and develop your talents

[  ] – You’re a great team player

[  ] – And… you’ve got good skills (“You know, like nunchuku skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills…” – Napoleon Dynamite)

As a member of the Flex development team you’ll play a key role in each development cycle, taking pride and ownership in what you do and driving your features to completion. Sometimes your work will be guided by a detailed technical spec. Other times you’ll be starting basically from scratch and you get to decide how the feature should work. Either way, your creativity and ability to work independently with little direction from management will help you excel. There are no “code monkeys” at NitroSecurity, only software engineers. What that means is that you’ll spend a significant portion of your time solving technical problems and making important decisions. Of course you’ll do the normal stuff like creating data structures, defining class inheritance models, and designing algorithms, but more importantly, you’ll create innovative interfaces, make things work better, run faster, and sometimes… you’ll figure out how to do the impossible.

Contact:

——-

So what are you going to do?
——-

Maybe NitroSecurity isn’t the right fit for you. Maybe it is. Only you can decide. But if a great job, with smart people, plenty of opportunity for growth, and great vacations right in your own backyard seems like it just might be a good fit, you ought to at least check it out. To apply, email your resume and a paragraph or two highlighting why you’re a rock star candidate for this position to:
